The Gallardo hit song maker, Douglas Jack Agu (born 19 August 1989), and widely known by his stage name Runtown, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer from Enugu state with a diverse musical style mix of hip-hop, R&B, reggae and rap.
Growing up was fairly okay for Runtown even though he lost his Dad at an early age, he spent major part of his growing years with his mother in Abuja Where she worked in the ministry of health before relocating to Enugu because of his mother’s interest in state politics. When quizzed about his initial ambition, being a professional Basketballer until the relocation was his dream until the relocation in 2005.
In 2007 the bend down pause crooner moved from Enugu to Lagos alongside his longtime friend Phyno and in order to penetrate the music industry in Nigeria, he began doing underground collaborations with the likes of Timaya and J-Martins.
In 2008, he partnered with Phyno to form a record label called Penthauz during which he released his first two singles “Party Like It’s 1980” and “Activity Pikin” he further went ahead to do a collaboration with the self acclaimed son of a rich man (O.B.O) known as Davido on his song “Gallardo” which shot him to limelight and got tongues wagging, some music pundits were of the opinion he wasn’t here to stay but others kept mute waiting for another hit song. Few months later, Runtown dumped Penthauz Record label and signed a juicy multi-million Naira contract with Eric-Manny Entertainment owned by Nigerian Billionaire Prince Okwudili Umenyiora, the C.E.O of popular Dilly Motors.

Runtown: Music Career
Runtown’s first ever official single is titled “Runtown” a song that made commercial success in the Caribbean produced by Soge in 2007. And in 2010 he released another single titled “Forever” which did fairly well in the music chart.
The Jamaican/American singer Laza Morgan in 2012 featured Runtown on a song titled “High on You” which did big on the Caribbean charts.
In the same year, J. Martins featured Runtown on a song off his Elevation album titled “Tonight”; he didnt just stop there, he also worked with Phyno on a song titled “Anam-Achi Vers-Achi” produced by WizzyPro.
On 29 January 2014, Runtown collaborated with Davido to release a song produced by T-Spize titled “Gallardo” which enjoyed major radio airplay and commercial success and subsequently won the Best Collaboration of The Year award at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He later released the video which got over 500,000 views on YouTube in its first 2 months of release.
The video features cameos from Patoranking, Skales and Phyno; it was shot in Nigeria and directed by Clarence Peters.
Runtown’s career skyrocketed after signing a recording contract with Eric-Manny Entertainment through his friend, releasing “Successful” and “Domot” which received frequent airplay.
On the 23rd of November 2015, Runtown released his debut studio album titled Ghetto University. Ghetto University featured appearances from DJ Khaled, Phyno, Wizkid, Uhuru and Anatii. The album made him listed in the “Top 5 Most Streamed Artist” in Nigeria, generating over N35 million turn over on MTN Music Plus
Today he is rated one of Nigeria’s bankable artistes. So far, he has been nominated 3 times and won one award Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) with his hit song titled Gallardo.
in 2016 he released a hit song ‘Lagos to Kampala‘ featuring Wizkid, a song produced under his current record label ‘Eric Manny Entertainment’ still enjoying massive airplay and still on the top 10 list of Nigeria top 10 music count down.
