This South African businessman is the “chairman” of the diamond mining company De Beers, and its subsidiary, the Diamond Trading Company. In November 2011, the Oppenheimer family sold its entire 40% stake in De Beers to Anglo American. Also jointly runs a “venture capital” company, and Green Partner Investments, which funded a number of projects in South Africa and across the continent.

The Dangote Group entered the business as a small company in 1977 and today is a conglomerate worth multibillion naira, with many of its business in Benin, Ghana, Togo and “at home” – in Nigeria, moreover, dominates the business of the refineries and the sugar market as well as being the leading supplier of national soft drink companies. The Dangote Group also owns salt factories and flour mills and has large investments in real estate, banking, transport, textile, oil and gas, employing over 11,000 people.
